About Reverend Jack Cuffari
I believe that in our cynical world, standing up for Love is a beautiful, crucial act – one for which people hunger. Maybe you’ve never thought of it this way, but two people getting married is a powerful act of community –building. Two single people leave their community, and re-enter as a married couple – proving that Love is still a force to be reckoned with, that Hope lives on and that there are still courageous souls who look to the future.
When creating your unique ceremony, I tap into years of study of ritual, rites of passage, liturgy and ceremony writing, and my knowledge of different cultures, traditions and faiths. All this gives me what I need to weave your love story into a beautiful tapestry that carries meaning, reflecting as it does your traditions, beliefs and values.
I am an Interfaith/Interspiritual Minister, ordained by the One Spirit Interfaith Seminary, and a Life-Cycle Celebrant, trained and certified through the Celebrant Foundation & Institute. I am blessed to have married hundreds of couples of all beliefs and combinations thereof, performed funerals, memorials, baby namings, coming-of-age ceremonies, house blessings, croning rituals, etc. I have also received training as a certified Disaster Relief Chaplain and as a Hospice Volunteer.
While I perform weddings throughout the Northern New Jersey/Metro New York area, I am currently a Wedding Officiant at the wonderful Montclair Wedding Sanctuary, a stunning Neo-Gothic church that welcomes all couples. I am also Spiritual Director in Residence at that church, the First Congregational Church of Montclair, NJ, and serve as Vice President of the Montclair, NJ Clergy Association. As a member of the clergy I have worked as a Marriage Equality activist, fighting for the rights of all couples in New Jersey who wish to enter into the state of matrimony, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identification.
